Statement Of Purpose

The purpose of the Berks County Workforce Development Board is to identify the long-term, strategic workforce development needs of the community; propose strategies to meet those needs; set priorities; build partnerships to align resources in support of those strategies; test specific initiatives to advance those ends; and measure and evaluate results. We support the development and maintenance of a skilled and competitive workforce in alignment with the broader economic development efforts to attract, retain and grow business in Berks County.

Any variation in the meeting schedules or platform will be announced as far in advance as possible. Special meetings may be held at the call of the Chair.


Stevens Amendment

The Stevens Amendment is an appropriations provision that requires grantees of the Department of Labor (DOL), Health and Human Services (HHS), and Education to disclose for a grant program the percent of the costs financed with federal funds. 

PUBLIC LAW 101-166, SECTION 511 

    • Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs are federally supported 100% by the U.S. Department of Labor as part of an award totaling $6,263,461.99 with $0 (0%) state, local and/or non-governmental funds. 
    • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) programs are federally supported 100% by the U.S. Department of Human Services as part of an award totaling $3,965,606.53 with $0 (0%) state, local, and/or non-governmental funds. 
    • Discretionary grants are federally supported 100% by the U.S. Department of Labor as part of an award totaling $228,334.60 with $0 (0%) state, local and/or non-governmental funds.
