Treatment Courts

Berks County Treatment Court Program combines intensive judicial supervision, mandatory drug testing, treatment, and incentives to help participants with substance abuse problems and mental health issues break the cycle of addiction and reduce recidivism. 

The  team is led by dedicated judges, prosecutors, defense counsel, treatment providers, and probation officers who work together to support and monitor a participant's recovery. The program requires intensive supervision based on frequent drug testing and court appearances, and structured treatment and recovery services. The use of alternative surveillance such as Electronic Monitoring is also sometimes employed.
