APX NEXT XN Smart Radio is designed with unprecedented durability, ready to operate from day-to-day situations to the most extreme environments. It mobilizes intelligence to bring vital information to your hands for improved collaboration — so you can outperform whatever the unexpected throws at you.
MISSION-CRITICAL DEVICE
You’ve seen tough, but not like this. APX NEXT XN takes toughness to a new level, designed to the latest standards in the fire service. Newly added software features enhance fireground safety and post incident review. Ruggedness and safety is bolstered with our leading APX audio in both the radio and XVN500 RSM, for the most intelligible audio in any environment. And when you need to go beyond voice, you are ultra connected with LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
MOBILE CONNECTION TO INTELLIGENCE
SmartConnect automatically switches between LMR and LTE to extend radio communication beyond the boundaries of the radio system, so users can concentrate on their mission and not worry about coverage.
SmartLocate let’s dispatchers see where everyone under their care is, so they can stay focused on critical situations.
SmartMapping enhances situational awareness by enabling radio users to see their own location on the radio front display, find an address, drop waypoints, and view the locations other colleagues at a glance, then tap the screen to instantly communicate with them.
SmartIncident is a CAD client that gives frontline responders a clear, consolidated view of assignments, unit status updates, map views and multimedia – right on their radio.
SmartMessaging is a secure and convenient way to share texts, images, videos and voice notes across an extended team.
SmartVideo is designed for SVX users to offload critical video to CommandCentral DEMS via the APX NEXT’s LTE. It also allows for users to livestream into CommandCentral Aware via the LTE in APX NEXT.
STREAMLINED OWNERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Radio Central, the cloud based provisioning system, lets you prepare radios before they even arrive and SmartProgramming allows for radio updates to be delivered over broadband regardless of geographic location.
CustomerHub provides direct access to subscriptions, entitlements, warranties and licenses to administer your fleet, and a range of services help you to manage your operations.

APX NEXT XN radios provide customers with a new ownership experience that allows radio configurations to be set up in a cloud hosted RadioCentral programming tool, even before the radios have physically arrived. On first power up, the APX NEXT XN radios will automatically connnect over WiFi or LTE to the RadioCentral cloud database and download the preset codeplug configuration.
Default radio codeplugs are loaded into the customer's specific cloud database called Provisioning Agency, before the radios ship from the Motorola Solutions factory. A Provisioning Agency will automatically be set up for every customer the first time they purchase APX NEXT XN radios.
When an APX NEXT XN radio is first ordered, the email address of the administrator for the Provisioning Agency has to be entered. That person will receive an email from Motorola Solutions inviting him/her to access the RadioCentral portal and set up other users with access to the Provisioning Agency, so they can program radios going forward.
Information that you will need to place an order:
- Name and Email address of the customer's Technical Contact
- Provisioning Agency name (if the customer has multiple)
- Specify End User Type of who will be the users of the radios
for FirstNet Service Eligibility verification (US customers only).
Available categories are: Police Protection; Fire Protection; Ambulance or Other (describe in free-form text)
- System ID for the system on which the APX NEXT XN radios will be deployed. If not known, use "FFFF"
If this is the first time you are quoting APX NEXT XN to a customer or you are quoting a new application service to the customer, consult your Pre-Sales Engineer to assess the need for SI Services to program APX NEXT XN radios and enable the customer system to support the required application services.
To ensure accuracy of APX NEXT XN configuration, please create Quotes and Request Orders in CPQ (access through https://motorolasolutions.my.salesforce.com).

Software and Provisioning
APX NEXT™ XN Out of the Box Provisioning
RadioCentral™ Factory default codeplugs for all APX NEXT XN radios will be made available to you in a secure cloud application. Motorola Solutions will set up a default account for your agency upon initial device purchase and invite you by email to access MyView (https://myview.motorolasolutions.com) to set up user accounts and download the RadioCentral programming application client.
If you already have an existing log-in for Motorola Command Central, you can use the same credentials to access RadioCentral via https://radiocentral.motorolasolutions.com. If this is the 1st time you will receive an email from Motorola how to set up your initial account.
Follow these steps after your RadioCentral account is activated:
1- Log into RadioCentral. Use the CommandCentral credentials to login RadioCentral URL. You will see the factory default codeplugs for your recently purchased APX NEXT radios
2- Install the R35.00.00 or later CPS on the computer you would like to access RadioCentral. CPS will be utilized as template editor during the Edit/Publish flow in RadioCentral.
3- Build new codeplug or reuse a legacy APX codeplug using RadioCentral. You can pick a proper base factory default codeplug to launch CPS editor, and then launch another CPS to open the reference APX legacy codeplug to drag/drop/copy/paste to reuse whatever configurations to build a new codeplug for your NEXT/N70 radios.
4- Schedule a programming job. Apply the radio configuration to your devices.NOTE: To assure proper device deployment please ensure that your organization has received the radios before scheduling specific programming jobs.
5- Remove the radio from the box, insert a battery and turn on the radio.
APX NEXT XN radios are enabled with LTE service and preset with default Wi-Fi SSID, to wirelessly download radio configurations and updates.
a.Upon power up, the radio will scan for the "Customer1" Network SSID access point with WPA/WPA2 security password of "MotorolaSolutions".
b.If "Customer1" is found, the radio will connect to secure hosted RadioCentral database and download any scheduled configuration. NOTE: Wi-Fi must be connected to the open Internet. If using a firewall, open port 443 for radio programming traffic.
c.If "Customer1" access point cannot be found, the radio will attempt to connect to LTE.
d.LTE connections are open to the internet by default, so if the radio is in LTE coverage, it will connect to secure RadioCentral database and download any pending configuration.
e.If neither Wi-Fi nor LTE is found, the radio will continue scanning for a broadband connection.
For security reasons, it is recommended that the first radio configuration update over "Customer1" access point would remove all default SSIDs and replace them with an agency secure network SSID and password.
For assistance, please call 800-MSI-HELP (800-674-4375).
Special Note for United States - State & Local Markets Only
