NEW: Beginning September 2023 APX radios can be ordered with the New Feature/Latest release or the Baseline release firmware. The Baseline release is defined as a single major software release (i.e. 202X.1) to ship from the factory for a 1 year duration. The first major release each year will be the Baseline Release.  A New Feature Release is defined as the second and third major releases each year (202X.2 and 202X.3) and is required for customers to access new feature content and/or products.  New Feature releases contain the current year’s Baseline content as well as content from the previous New Feature release.

IMPORTANT! Radios that are ordered via COF must add the Baseline Release option (QA09113) if the Baseline firmware is desired.  If the Baseline option (QA09113) is not added to COF orders, radios will ship with the Latest Release and cannot be rolled back to the Baseline Release.  Most quotes and orders should keep the default Baseline Firmware (QA09113) unless a customer desires new functionality only provided in a New Feature release. NEW 2022: Please note H02 option STUN/KILL does not require encryption. We do "Recommend ordering encryption (other than ADP only selection), otherwise radios will be susceptible to remote STUN/KILL from an adversary."

Effective October 5th, 2020: All U.S. orders will require an encryption selection. QA05751 “Clear Radio No ADP” has become an orderable option with a $0 dollar cost. G193/Q667 ADP only is also available at $0. Please see encryption section for AES and other encryption options that come with ADP. Units shipped with QA05751 are not field-upgradable for encryption and any changes will require units to be sent to a depot. Further ordering changes are captured in the Encryption Algorithm and Multikey sections below.

HAZARDOUS LOCATION

The APX 8000HXE will ship standard with PMNN4547. The APX 8000HXE is certified by Underwriters' Laboratory when properly equipped with the standard battery, PMNN4547. There is no option to delete this battery on this model.

When equipped with Motorola Battery PMNN4547, the APX 8000HXE models are certified as intrinsically safe for use in ANSI/TIA 4950-A ; Classification Rating Class I, Division 1, Groups C, D; Class II, Division 1, Group E, F, G; Class III, Hazardous (Classified) Locations. ANSI/ISA 12.12.01-2015 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No.213-15; Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D; T3C. Tamb = -25° C to +60° T3C.

Canada Customers: When equipped with Motorola Battery PMNN4547, the APX 8000HXE models are certified as intrinsically safe for use in CAN/CSA C22.2 NO. 157-92; Classification Rating Class I, Division 1, Group D; Class II, Division 1, Group E, F, G; Class III, Hazardous (Classified) Locations. Special Note for United States - State & Local Markets Only
In accordance with FCC mandate, the APX 8000HXE all band radio is restricted to 12.5 KHz operation only and does NOT support 25 KHz in the VHF and UHF Bands (excluding T-Band).  This applies to customers under Rule Part 90.  Customers with FCC waivers can contact their Business Development Representative.

DHS Project 25 Compliance Assessment Program (CAP)  has defined a "CAP Encryption Requirements compliant radio" as a radio that can be ordered without encryption or one that can be ordered with AES256. << Click to learn more>>

Programming Solutions

CPS single unit programming is included with all APX N-Series device purchases. For advanced programming solutions including features like batch programming, programming over WiFi or LTE, Motorola hosted or Cloud solutions, you will need to order one of the below tools. You may select between 1-5 years of access. RadioCentral and RadioManagement (MSI Hosted) are ordered on a per device, per year basis. The pricing in the table below is per device, per year.

Audio Accessories 

WI-FI

APX 8000HXE supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with WPA2/WPA (PSK), and WEP security protocols. Wi-Fi can be used with the Radio Management SW in order to do codeplug updates, firmware refreshes, and FLASHport upgrades over a Wireless Network (WLAN).  The radio will only connect to available Wi-Fi networks which have been pre-provisioned in the radio codeplug via CPS. The radio can be pre-provisioned with up to 20 SSIDs.

The Wi-Fi feature requires ordering option QA09001. The Wi-Fi feature is also available aftermarket as a FLASHport upgrade if not ordered out of the factory.

Radio Management (RM) is required in order to take advantage of the Wi-Fi capabilities on APX 8000HXE.

OUT OF THE BOX WI-FI PROVISIONING

If a radio is ordered the Wi-Fi option (QA09001) and the customer wishes to provision the radios out of the box using Wi-Fi, the radio must also be ordered with the Out of the Box Wi-Fi Provisioning option (QA09007).

A radio ordered with the Wi-Fi option and the Out of the Box Provisioning over Wi-Fi option will come with the following default codeplug configuration relative to Wi-Fi:
a. Wi-Fi will be enabled.
b. There will be one pre-configured network with the Network SSID set to “MyNetwork” and security type will be set to
“None”.
c. The default state of Wi-Fi will be “on”.

A Wi-Fi router is required for connecting the Wi-Fi capable radio to the Device Programmer. The Wi-Fi router is to be procured by the agency programming the radios and must be provisioned with the Network SSID set to “MyNetwork” (case sensitive) with no password enabled.

Bluetooth 4.0 & Emergency Find Me

With Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology and our APX™ Mission Critical Wireless portfolio, users can now connect a variety of Bluetooth audio accessories and data devices with their APX™ radio.

Bluetooth 4.0 also enables Emergency Find Me, a feature providing personnel with an added level of security by improving response time in emergencies. Once an emergency is activated on the APX 8000HXe, a Bluetooth beacon signals other Bluetooth-enabled APX radios within range. Based on bluetooth signal strength, nearby APX radios will receive an emergency alert via intelligent lighting and a text message with users Radio ID along with signal strength status (excellent, poor, fair) to determine proximity, and will guide the nearest personnel to the user in distress.

FLASHPORT AFTERMARKET UPGRADES

The APX 8000HXE P25 Portable Radios are part of the FLASHport Program. This means that APX 8000HXE hardware models can be loaded with different software packages that provide the features and functionalities that our customers require. 

System Enhancement Options can be loaded at the time of radio purchase or at a later date through the use of software field upgrades.  The APX 8000H portable can be upgraded electronically in the field with new features in the current system or to new systems operation by ordering upgrade kits.

FLASHport upgrades are supported via Wi-Fi using Radio Management (RM) on APX 8000HXE.
