CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE ARREST

NATURE OF INCIDENT:   Child Sexual Abuse Arrest



DEFENDANT:     Michael Sanchez (31 years of age)
                             Reading, PA


CHARGES:         Aggravated Indecent Assault
                            Corruption of Minors
                            Endangering Welfare of Children
                            Indecent Assault
                           
                                  

DETAILS OF INCIDENT: 

In January of 2026, the Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives received multiple Childline Referrals from the Department of Human Services, Commonwealth of PA, which reported that a 13-year-old-female was the victim of suspected sexual abuse. 

In February of 2026, a Forensic Interview was conducted with the 13-year-old victim at the Berks County Children’s Alliance Center, Reading, PA. At that time, the victim disclosed that the defendant had sexually abused her.  In addition, she disclosed that the defendant had shown her sexually explicit videos and anime. 

The investigation determined that this sexual abuse occurred in January of 2026 at a residence located in the 000 block of South 2nd Street in Reading City, Berks County. 
  
On Thursday, July 16, 2026, the defendant was charged with Aggravated Indecent Assault, Corruption of Minors, Endangering Welfare of Children, and Indecent Assault.  An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for him by Magisterial District Judge Priscilla Campos.      



On Friday, July 17, 2026, the defendant appeared at the Berks County Courthouse and surrendered to members of the Berks County Sheriff’s Department.  He was fingerprinted and photographed at the Central Processing Center.

The defendant was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kyley L. Scott.  He was committed to the Berks County Jail on $100,000 bail.

As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
