VICTIMS: Geraldine Peguero-Mancebo (31 years of age)
Jeyden Peguero (1 year of age)
DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
On Friday, September 19, 2025, at approximately 8:15 PM, the body of a deceased female was discovered in a grassy field adjacent to East Huller Lane in Ontelaunee Township, Berks County.
Members of the Berks County Detectives, the Reading City Police Department, the Berks County Forensic Services Unit, and the Northern Berks Regional Police Department responded to this location to initiate a death investigation.
Investigators observed that this unidentified female appeared to be the victim of foul play. Based upon several descriptors, including her clothing, investigators began to suspect that the victim may be a missing person that had previously been reported to the Reading Police Department. Investigators were aware that the Reading Police Department was also searching for the female’s missing one-year-old son.
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM, the body of a toddler was found partially submerged in a marshy area, approximately 150 yards west of the location where the female victim was discovered.
On Monday, September 22, 2025, autopsies were performed on both victims at Tower Health Reading Hospital. As a result of these postmortem examinations, both deaths were ruled homicides. Investigators were also able to confirm that the victims were in fact Geraldina PEGUERO-MANCEBO and her one-year-old son, Jeyden Junior PEGUERO, both of whom had been previously reported missing to the Reading Police Department.
The Berks County Detectives, along with the Reading Police Department, are continuing the investigation into these deaths.
District Attorney John T. Adams intends to hold a press conference on Monday,
September 29, 2025, regarding this investigation.
