DEFENDANT:      Byron Boyd (39 years of age)

CHARGES:      Possession with the Intent to Deliver Crack Cocaine (F)
                        Possession of Crack Cocaine (M)
                        Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M)
                        Persons Not to Possess Firearms (F2)
                        Receiving Stolen Property (F2)

DETAILS OF INCIDENT:

The Berks County Drug Task Force and Pennsylvania State Police conducted a joint drug investigation in Muhlenberg Township, Berks County. It began in November of 2024 after detectives received information of the defendant conducting drug sales in both the township and the City of Reading. Subsequently, they obtained a search warrant for the body of Byron Boyd and his residence. The warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge Paul Leo.

The warrant was executed on August 20, 2025, at approximately 6:00 AM. A search was conducted, and the following evidentiary items were seized:
 
  • Smith & Wesson .380 caliber handgun
  • Two Taurus G2C 9mm handguns
  • Approximately two hundred forty-two packets of crack cocaine
  • Approximately 14.9 grams of unpackaged crack cocaine
  • Various drug paraphernalia including scales, packaging material, cutting agents, and a vacuum sealer 
  • Five packets of marijuana
  • Seventeen rounds of 9mm ammunition
  • Three cell phones
  • $890.00 Cash, U.S. Currency believed to be from sales of controlled substances
 

Evidence Seized
 
The approximate street value of the crack cocaine was $4,000.00.

The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Central Processing Center where he was photographed and fingerprinted. He is awaiting preliminary arraignment by a Magisterial District Judge.

As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
