DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
In April of 2025, a criminal investigation was initiated by the Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives after receiving a CHILDLINE referral from the PA Department of Human Services, which alleged that the defendant sexually abused a juvenile female over a period of several years.
A forensic interview was conducted with the victim at the Berks County Children’s Alliance Center, Reading, PA. During the interview the victim disclosed that the defendant sexually abused her when she was between the ages of five and fourteen. According to the victim, this abuse occurred at a residence located in the 400 block of South 7th Street, Reading, Berks County.
During this investigation, detectives learned that when the defendant became aware of these allegations, he sent multiple messages to the victim’s mother asking for forgiveness and pleading with her to not “have him arrested”.
On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the defendant was charged with Rape of a Child, Rape, Indecent Assault, Corruption of Minors, and Endangering the Welfare of Children. A warrant of arrest was issued for the defendant by Magisterial District Judge David YOCH.
On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the defendant was taken into custody at a residence in the City of
Reading by members of the Berks County Detectives. The defendant was transported to the Central Processing Center located at the Berks County Courthouse where he was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Alvin B. ROBINSON. Bail was set at $150,000. The defendant was committed to the Berks County Jail after failing to post bail.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
