CHILD ABUSE/INDECENT ASSAULT ARREST - J. LEONI

DETAILS OF INCIDENT:

On Wednesday, June 3, 2025, the Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives Unit met with a female victim, 37 years of age, who advised that she had been seeking counseling and sought treatment from Dr. Jeffrey Leoni, a local psychologist, in March of 2025, at his Wyomissing office. Dr. Leoni advertised his therapist services as a trained therapist with experience in treating PTSD.

The defendant began sending text messages to the victim offering traumatic massages and what that would entail. He advised the victim that he would come to her residence at no cost, and it would involve her getting undressed, to her comfort level.

In May of 2025, Leoni arrived at the victim’s residence and performed the massage, all while touching the victim inappropriately. The victim also disclosed that during her therapy and massage sessions Leoni would have his phone positioned in her direction, as if he was taking photographs and/or recording her.

In June of 2025, Berks County Detectives served a search warrant on Leoni’s body and seized a cellular device belonging to him. During the forensic examination of the device, multiple images of the victim as well as other females, were discovered in various stages of undress. A further examination of his device revealed evidence of mobile applications which utilize artificial intelligence to produce these naked images. Additionally, detectives discovered numerous digital images of what appeared to be a juvenile female. There were corresponding images of this female, in the same pose, but unclothed. These images appeared to have been produced with the same artificial intelligence mobile application.

Detectives later identified this juvenile victim to be 12 years of age. All the photos had been taken on or about June of 2025.

On July 29, 2025, the Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives filed criminal charges against the defendant, Jeffrey Joseph Leoni. Magisterial District Judges, Thomas Gauby and Eric Taylor, signed the arrest warrants.

The defendant surrendered to Berks County Detectives accompanied by his attorney on July 30. He was turned over to the Berks County Sheriff’s Central Processing Center where he is awaiting arraignment by a Magisterial District Judge.

As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
