In-Person Assessment Appeals

The Board of Assessment Appeals voted to have in-person appeal hearings, as opposed to phone-based hearings, beginning in 2026.
The Board of Assessment Appeals voted during their board meeting to begin having in-person appeal hearings starting with the appeal hearings being held in April 2026. In-person appeal hearings were the common practice until COVID struck back in 2020, when all hearings were conducted via telephone and Microsoft Teams for safety reasons.

- Continue to follow the appeal process as explained on our website. Our appeal form and instructions are found at www.berkspa.gov/departments/assessment/forms.
- After filing for an appeal, look for a postcard-sized mailing from the Assessment Office, which will give the time, date and place of the scheduled appeal.
- On the scheduled appeal date, appellants will report to the Berks County Assessment Office, 400 E. Wyomissing Avenue, Mohnton, PA 19540. Follow the signage to the Assessment Office.
- There is parking in the lot at the canopy entrance (not the MDJ entrance).
