Marlena is an Assistant Chief Probation Officer who has a dedicated focus on overseeing community relations, website maintenance, public relations content and communications, and contributing to the departments focus on continual improvement to community supervision. With a passion for fostering positive relationships between the probation department and the community, Marlena plays a key role in enhancing public understanding and collaboration through strategic initiatives and outreach efforts.
In addition to managing community engagement, Marlena oversees day to day supervision of many dedicated probation and parole officers whose deep commitment to public safety plays a vital role in the successful reintegration of individuals on community supervision. Marlena ensures that officers are providing appropriate delivery of services by responding to the needs of offenders based on their risk to reoffend, holding offenders accountable to Court Orders, and increasing their competencies using Evidence Based Practices. Marlena played a key role in establishing the Female Trauma Unit (FTU) and continues to make valuable contributions to its development.
Marlena currently serves as the Executive Director of Earthrise Enterprise Inc. Earthrise Cafe operates under the umbrella of Earthrise Enterprise Inc., a reentry program established in 1992 by the Berks County Juvenile Probation Office. For over 30 years, Earthrise has served breakfast, lunch, and snacks to county employees and visitors, while providing gainful employment and training to youthful offenders under court supervision. Led by Marlena, Earthrise continues to honor its original mission while evolving to meet the needs of today’s justice-involved individuals. Through Earthrise Cafe, the program blends workforce development, community engagement, and culinary service into a pathway for personal growth and second chances.
