Park News & Announcements:
Stonecliffe Recreation Area has Reopened to the Public, including the Columbia Street Parking lot. The Union Canal Trail/Schuylkill River Trail is now fully open through the park.
The City of Reading has moved into phase 2 of the 19th Ward Pump Station Project resulting in the closure of the Monroe Street Parking lot.
Visitors to Stonecliffe Recreation Area should utilize the Columbia Street Parking lot for access.
Please note that the Action Skate Park will remain closed as the County evaluates future renovations of the Skatepark. Additionally, the concrete fishing pier at Stonecliffe is closed due to the removal of Bushong’s Dam in September 2025. After the dam was removed, the water level and course of the Tulpehocken Creek was altered. The fishing dock no longer reaches the water and has been closed for the safety of all visitors. The County is reviewing options for new water access in this area.
The County appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as we complete work to restore and improve Stonecliffe Recreation Area, the Action Park skatepark, and the fishing pier for the safety and enjoyment of all visitors.
