Each year, the Berks County Fire Training Center offers testing opportunities for personnel to obtain their Pro Board certification through the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy.

To register for training classes and participate in the certification process, you need to secure a Student Identification (SID) number. This is completed by going to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) website. This will serve as your personal identification number. The website is located at https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid.

The Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Learning Management System (LMS) Training and Certification Portal is where members of the Pennsylvania fire service can access training, transcripts, register for training, check enrollment/wait list status, duplicate certificates, see statewide testing opportunities, training histories, and participate in online training. All certification testing dates, times, locations, Candidate Handbooks, Candidate Applications, and Candidate Skill Sheets are in the LMS-Acadis program. To establish an account in LMS, go to https://www.pa.gov/agencies/osfc/training-portal.

Submit with your application a check in the amount of $100.00 made payable to the “County of Berks” with the “candidate’s name” in the memo field. Separate checks must be included for each candidate. Each test has a limit on the number of candidates who may take the test. Applications shall be processed in the order they are received.   

To support the certification process, the County of Berks will reimburse all Berks County emergency service personnel who successfully pass the written and skills examinations on the first attempt. Out-of-County personnel will be assessed the $100.00 fee regardless of the test results.
