Welcome to the Berks County Parks

The mission of the Berks County Parks & Recreation Department is to enrich the quality of life for all in Berks County through an enduring park and trail system that preserves natural resources and cultural heritage, offers inspiring recreational experiences, and promotes healthy lifestyles.

Our parks and recreation facilities along with our many programs and events offer a wide variety of experiences and opportunities for visitors of all ages.

Parks' Pet Policy

Dogs are only permitted at Antietam Lake Park. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Dog owners are responsible for the clean up and removal of their animal's waste.

Dogs and Pets are NOT permitted at all other Berks County Parks including the Union Canal Bicycle & Walking Trail.  

**Service animals are permitted.

Snowshoe Lending Program is active!
We now have enough snow to use snowshoes!
Stonecliffe Recreation Area Updates
Visitors to Stonecliffe Recreation Area should utilize the Columbia Street Parking lot for access. 
Park Reservations for the 2026 Season are now open.

  • Recreation equipment is now available to borrow during regular park hours!  Contact Recreation or Ranger staff to reserve equipment- 610-374-2944 (Recreation), 484-256-5530 (Ranger on duty) for more information. 
    • Snowshoes are available to be borrowed from Berks Leisure Area and used within park limits when trail conditions allow, to learn more CLICK HERE.
    • Fishing rods and tackle are available at Berks Leisure Area and Bingaman House (Antietam Lake Park).  Borrowers must have a valid PA Fishing license, contact Ranger staff to learn more. For more information on fishing tackle provided by PA Fish & Boat's Tackle Loaner Program, CLICK HERE. 

 Antietam Lake Park access lots are OPEN with the exception of Seidel Road Trailhead. Some trail detours remain- check for trail signage and reroutes.   Contact the Park office if you have any questions- 610-372-8939.
